Carnival Cruise Line started building its newest vessel, Carnival Destiny, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on July 10, 2026. The steel-cutting ceremony marked the launch of Carnival’s first ship in its next-generation ACE Class, emphasizing advances in design and passenger experience.
Design Highlights of Carnival Destiny
The ship will feature a record number of ocean-view balcony cabins, surpassing all previous vessels in the Carnival fleet. It incorporates over 4.5 acres of glass, including multi-story walls designed to enhance ocean views from multiple areas onboard. A newly designed lanai deck will provide additional open-air spaces connecting passengers with the sea.
Innovative Onboard Concepts
Carnival Destiny’s onboard experience
includes more than 70% new venues and attractions that are fresh to Carnival Cruise Line. These include reimagined dining options, next-generation bars and lounges, immersive entertainment experiences, and vibrant outdoor areas not previously offered by Carnival.
Timeline and Future ACE Class Ships
Scheduled for delivery in summer 2029, Carnival Destiny will be followed by two sister ACE Class ships planned for introduction in 2031 and 2033, expanding Carnival’s fleet with innovative designs focused on passenger engagement and ocean connection.
Destinations and Routes
Upon entering service, Carnival Destiny will operate within Carnival’s Paradise Collection, the company’s portfolio of resorts and destinations in the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico. This aligns with
Carnival’s strategy to offer exclusive itineraries in popular tropical regions.
Background on Carnival and Fincantieri Partnership
Fincantieri has been Carnival’s shipbuilding partner for more than 30 years, starting with the original Carnival Destiny, which was the world’s largest cruise ship when launched over three decades ago. Carnival currently operates a fleet of 29 ships and plans to add five new vessels by 2033, including Excel Class ships in 2027 and 2028 and the new ACE Class ships.
Carnival’s Vision for Carnival Destiny
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said Carnival Destiny builds on a legacy that redefined cruising and will reimagine guest experiences at sea. She stated, “With this ship,
we’re elevating the guest experience again creating a ship that feels more expansive, while helping guests feel more connected and ultimately have more fun.”
