Severe thunderstorms on June 28, 2026, resulted in major flight cancellations at two of London’s busiest airports, Heathrow and Gatwick. The intense weather conditions disrupted standard airport operations and schedules, forcing many flights to be canceled or delayed.
Around 40,000 passengers were affected by the disruptions, becoming stranded as a consequence of the cancellations and operational delays. The storm caused significant interruptions to travel plans at these major UK air hubs.
