Severe thunderstorms over the London area on June 28, 2026, disrupted operations at two of the city’s busiest airports, Heathrow and Gatwick. The sudden weather conditions caused substantial challenges for flight schedules, impacting both arrivals and departures.

According to reports, more than 900 flights at Heathrow and Gatwick were either delayed or cancelled during the period of the thunderstorms. These disruptions left an estimated 40,000 passengers stranded at the airports as airlines sought to manage the fallout from the adverse weather.
