The Port of Skagen in Denmark has confirmed the awarding of a contract valued at DKK 85 million to develop a shore power facility. This infrastructure investment is intended to enable cruise ships visiting the port to connect to cleaner energy sources while docked, reducing emissions during their stay.

Details of the Shore Power Installation

The planned shore power installation is designed with a capacity of 16 megawatts, aiming to provide sufficient power supply for the cruise vessels that utilize the port. This undertaking forms part of a broader initiative to promote environmentally responsible cruise operations.

With this investment, Denmark joins other countries, including Norway, Spain,

and the United States, which have implemented similar shore power solutions. The initiative supports sustainable tourism growth in the Skagen area and is expected to improve the experience for visitors by reducing the environmental impact of cruise arrivals.
