The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has issued a cautionary statement regarding the potential consequences of extended waits at Europe’s newly implemented Entry/Exit System (EES) border controls. The council’s analysis draws attention to the risks linked to these delays affecting visitor numbers across the continent.
According to the WTTC, if border delays associated with the EES reach approximately three hours, this threshold could endanger the arrival of as many as 41 million visitors to Europe. This figure represents the scale of the potential impact on tourism inflows and by extension, highlights the significance of maintaining efficient border processing times.
