Durham police have detained 46 people as part of an extensive operation addressing criminal tourism in the area. Authorities have filed more than 1,000 charges related to high-value offenses tied to suspects entering Canada to carry out these activities.
Criminal tourism refers to the practice of individuals crossing into Canada with the intent to commit significant criminal acts, primarily targeting the Durham region. By focusing on these cross-border activities, the police aim to strengthen safety measures for local communities and reduce the exploitation of Canada’s entry points for illegal gain.
