Tourism revenue in Cyprus experienced a significant decline of over 30% during March 2026. This downturn in earnings reflects a challenging period for the island’s tourism sector.
Decline Linked to Visitor Patterns and Security Concerns
The primary factor leading to the revenue drop is the marked reduction in visitors from Israel. Alongside this, increasing regional security concerns, particularly in the Akrotiri area, have negatively impacted tourist arrivals and bookings. Despite these difficulties, markets such as the UK, Poland, and Germany have continued to be among the leading sources of tourism during this time.
Cyprus is facing similar challenges to several other international destinations that are also encountering drops
in tourism revenue and reservations this season. The decreased visitor flow and uncertainty related to regional stability have posed obstacles as the island attempts to stabilize its tourism economy.
