The California High-Speed Rail Authority has authorized a contract valued at $3.5 billion for the installation of high-speed rail tracks and electrified rail systems. This contract assigns a consortium to carry out the construction work, marking the start of track installation for what is planned as the nation’s first truly high-speed railway infrastructure.
Work under this contract will predominantly take place across the Central Valley region of California. The project’s timeline has been updated and is now under the direction of the Authority’s board as the consortium begins the track and system installations within this key geographic area.
In conjunction
with the contract approval, the Authority’s board has confirmed the appointment of a new chairperson. This development coincides with a significant milestone in the longstanding effort to advance California’s high-speed rail project, emphasizing progress toward creating advanced electrified railway systems.
