Starting from recent updates announced in May 2026, the European travel authorization system known as ETIAS has been extended to cover ferry and cruise travelers entering Europe. This means that those arriving by sea must secure the necessary ETIAS approval ahead of their voyage.
Passengers traveling on cruise ships or ferries bound for European ports are now required to complete ETIAS authorization prior to boarding. This adjustment reflects new procedures implemented at Europe’s border control checkpoints designed to include all sea arrivals under the ETIAS regime.
