The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has issued a caution regarding the implementation of the Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES), highlighting the potential impact on visitor inflows to Europe. According to the WTTC’s analysis, delays at border controls tied to the EES could place up to 41 million visitor arrivals at risk if processing times extend significantly.
The concern centers on possible border delays reaching up to three hours, which may affect travelers crossing European borders within the Schengen Area. Such extended waiting periods could disrupt travel plans and present a challenge to Europe’s tourism sector.
