The World Travel Expo returns to Cebu for its 10th year from August 14 to 16, 2026, at Ayala Center Cebu. The three-day event is themed “Xtraordinary Journeys, Xceptional Memories.”
Platform for Cebu Tourism Promotion
The Expo showcases Cebu’s diverse tourism offerings and connects travelers with local and international destinations, tourism organizations, and travel businesses. It has become a platform to discover new destinations, build connections, and experience stories behind travel.
Diverse Industry Participation
The event brings together top resort brands, tour operators, airlines, and local travel agencies. It fosters partnerships that support the growth and sustainability of Philippine tourism and creates opportunities for Cebu-based businesses and communities.
Officials Highlight Economic Role of Tourism
Miles Caballero, Managing Director of Ad Asia Events Group OPC, said the Expo was created to provide a place for exploration and connection, with the 10-year milestone reflecting collaboration among
stakeholders. HRRAC President Mia Faye D. Singson-Leon stated, “Because tourism is not just an industry that stands alone. Our tourism is connected to the economic lifeline of this island. A visitor who comes to Cebu creates value far beyond a hotel booking or an airline ticket.”
The OIC-Regional Director of DOT Region VII noted the reciprocal nature of tourism: “Every traveler abroad should bring home at least one visitor. Bring them home. Bring them to your hometown. Bring them to Cebu. Bring them to our heritage district. Outbound creates movement; inbound creates the momentum that no one can stop. Reciprocity
keeps the cycle stable.” Provincial Tourism Officer Rowena “Weng” Montecillo said, “It has provided an important platform for Cebu to showcase its diverse tourism offerings, connect with potential markets, build partnerships, and create opportunities for our local tourism enterprises and communities.”
Visitor Benefits and Travel Opportunities
Travelers can organize trip planning in one visit under one roof, benefiting from exclusive deals, staycation savings, extended voucher validity, and special passes for family attractions and dining. Visitors talk directly to travel experts to ask questions, compare destinations, and customize packages.
Tourism’s Broader Economic Context in Cebu
Tourism is the economic backbone of Central Visayas, supporting local livelihoods such as tour guides, transport drivers,
neighborhood eateries, and handicraft artists. Growth in Cebu tourism strengthens its standing as a premier hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), fostering long-term commercial prosperity through partnerships between international and local enterprises.
