The World Travel Expo celebrated its 10th anniversary in Cebu with a three-day event held at Ayala Center Cebu from August 14 to 16, 2026. The Expo gathered destinations, travel opportunities, and experiences from across the globe, serving as a platform for tourism businesses and destinations to showcase their offerings.

Origins and Objectives of the World Travel Expo

Miles Caballero, Managing Director of Ad Asia Events Group OPC, the organizer, said the Expo was created to provide a venue where people could discover new destinations, forge meaningful connections, and experience travel stories. He added that the 10-year milestone is a reminder that journeys are shaped by those united

in purpose and belief in shared achievement.

Expo Offerings and Traveler Benefits

The 2026 edition featured top resort brands, tour operators, airlines, and local travel agencies. Travelers could talk directly with travel experts, compare destinations side-by-side, and craft custom travel packages. Exclusive event-only perks included staycation savings, extended voucher validity, and special bundled passes for family attractions and dining.

Economic Impact and Industry Collaboration

Mia Faye D. Singson-Leon, President of HRRAC, said, “Because tourism is not just an industry that stands alone. Our tourism is connected to the economic lifeline of this island. A visitor who comes to Cebu creates value far beyond a hotel booking or an airline ticket.”

The OIC-Regional Director of DOT Region VII stated, “Every traveler abroad should bring home at least one visitor. Bring them home. Bring them to Cebu. Outbound creates movement; inbound creates the momentum that no one can stop. Reciprocity keeps the cycle stable.” The Expo is part of a broader collaborative movement fostering growth and partnerships in tourism.

Support for Local Communities and Tourism Growth

Rowena “Weng” Montecillo, Provincial Tourism Officer of Cebu, said the Expo provides an important platform to showcase Cebu’s diverse tourism offerings, connect with potential markets, and create opportunities for local enterprises and communities. Tourism supports sectors beyond travel, benefiting tour guides, transport drivers,

eateries, and craftsmen throughout Central Visayas.

Cebu’s Role in Regional Tourism and MICE Sector

The World Travel Expo supports Cebu’s role as a premier hub for leisure tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). By connecting travelers, industry partners, and destinations, the event helps turn short-term visitors into long-term commercial prosperity and lasting economic partnerships, reflecting growth and vibrancy in Philippine tourism.
