London Gatwick Airport, Britain’s second busiest airport and a major hub for budget airlines including EasyJet, is experiencing a water supply outage affecting both terminals as of July 27, 2026. The disruption has caused the closure of airport restaurants and interrupted passenger facilities such as flushing toilets, handwashing, accessing hot drinks, and refilling water bottles.
SES Water, the regional supplier, reported that the outage stems from a power failure at a nearby water treatment facility located in the Horley area, close to the airport. This power outage on the morning of July 26 caused drops in water pressure and temporary
loss of supply at Gatwick. SES Water is collaborating closely with airport authorities to restore services to normal as soon as possible. As an emergency response, bottled water is being distributed to both passengers and staff, with contingency measures implemented to safeguard passenger welfare.
Despite significant service interruptions within the terminals, Gatwick Airport confirmed that flight operations remain unaffected. The airport authority stated, “A water issue in the Horley area is causing disruption at the airport this morning. The problem is affecting water supply in both terminals and is currently under investigation.” They added that bottled water distribution and other
contingency strategies are in place to support affected individuals at the airport.
