London Gatwick Airport encountered a water supply disruption on the morning of July 26, 2026, affecting both terminals. The issue, originating in the nearby Horley area, caused interruptions to multiple passenger services across the airport.
Restaurants at Gatwick Airport closed due to the water outage. Passengers were unable to flush toilets, wash hands, access hot drinks, or refill water bottles inside the terminals, leading to significant inconvenience in the facility’s amenities.
SES Water, the regional water supplier, attributed the disruption to a power outage at a nearby water treatment facility. This outage affected water pressure and supply throughout parts of
the Horley area, including the airport.
Gatwick Airport confirmed the issue on social media, stating, “A water issue in the Horley area is causing disruption at the airport this morning. The problem is affecting water supply in both terminals and is currently under investigation.” The airport also said bottled water was being distributed to staff and passengers, with other contingency measures activated to safeguard passenger welfare.
Despite the disruption to terminal facilities, flight operations at Gatwick Airport continued without interruption. Gatwick is Britain’s second busiest airport and serves as a major hub for budget airlines such as EasyJet.
