Vietnam’s tourism industry is expanding new products and activities to meet demand during the upcoming National Day holiday, emphasizing safe and quality visitor services. According to the Traveloka SEA Index released on August 11, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc ranked as the five most booked destinations by Vietnamese travelers for the second quarter and the holiday period. Tourism trends are shifting with growing visitor interest in local culture, cuisine, art programs, festivals, museums, craft villages, and community-based activities, moving beyond traditional sightseeing and resort holidays.
Cultural Events and Festivals Scheduled for the Holiday
Several cultural events will take place during
the holiday to mark the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. In Da Nang, the “Hoi An Memories” show will present its “Flag Hat” version from August 26 to September 2, 2026. Phu Quoc will host “The Memory of Flowers” exhibition. Thanh Hoa will organize the Sam Son Kite Festival 2026 from August 30 to September 1, while Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2026 is scheduled for August 27 to September 5, featuring a range of cultural, artistic, and community activities. Tourism products connected to revolutionary history and heritage are also being promoted nationwide.
Visitor Statistics and Infrastructure Upgrades
Hanoi welcomed
18.01 million visitors in the first six months of 2026, a 15.7% increase year on year, with international arrivals rising 26.8% and tourism revenue increasing 19.1%. The city recorded its five-millionth international visitor for 2026 on July 7. Ninh Binh province is upgrading visitor experiences ahead of the holiday, including blooming water lilies at Tam Coc-Bich Dong, improved landscape, enhanced environmental sanitation, increased staffing, and additional directional signage. Ninh Binh has over 70 tourist sites and approximately 1,500 accommodation establishments with around 23,000 rooms, preparing operational plans and supplies for the holiday period.
Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Measures for the Holiday
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT)
has directed local tourism administrations to ensure adequate visitor conditions, including security and service quality during the National Day holiday. Authorities are coordinating with police, health, and transport agencies to maintain public order, traffic safety, fire prevention, and disaster response. Visitor flows at major tourist sites will be regulated to avoid overcrowding and congestion. Tourism service providers must improve food safety, environmental protection, fire prevention, and service quality, with strict enforcement of violations. Transparency in pricing is mandated; accommodations and tourism businesses must clearly display rates, surcharges, promotions, refund, and cancellation policies, and provide services at published prices and agreed
standards. Tourists are warned against unregulated self-organized tours promoted by individuals, KOLs, or KOCs, and advised to select licensed travel companies and purchase travel insurance.
Tourism Growth Performance and Targets for 2026
Vietnam recorded nearly 12.3 million international visitors in the first half of 2026, a 14.9% increase compared to the previous year. The country targets 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic tourists in 2026, aiming for tourism revenue of approximately 1.125 quadrillion VND (43 billion USD). Major destinations like Hanoi, Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc are enhancing infrastructure, refreshing tourism products, and strengthening security, sanitation, and service quality measures to
support peak-season demand and sustain tourism momentum through year-end.
