Vietnam received around 1.68 million international visitors in June 2026, contributing to a total of 12.3 million arrivals in the first half of the year. This marks a 14.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.

The Vietnamese government has set a target of attracting 25 million international tourists throughout 2026, with an expected tourism revenue of VND1.125 quadrillion, or approximately $43 billion.

Vietnam’s Policy and Market Development Strategy

Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, outlined the sector’s focus for the second half of 2026. The strategy prioritizes policy reform, developing international markets, and digital transformation initiatives.

The

recent rise in visitor numbers is attributed to more favorable visa policies, government-led tourism promotion, and expansion in key international source markets.

Government Agenda and Industry Cooperation

The government’s policy agenda emphasizes enhancing the national framework for tourism development, aiming to bolster tourism as a vital economic sector. Plans include deepening collaboration among airlines, travel companies, and accommodation providers to support inbound travel demand.

Digital Transformation Efforts

Vietnam’s digital transformation efforts involve integrating tourism databases with the national population database. Additionally, authorities plan to upgrade tourism statistics to meet international standards, reinforcing the accuracy and monitoring of tourism data.
