Vietnam is introducing new tourism offerings and cultural events for the National Day holiday in late August and early September 2026, preparing to meet growing visitor demand. Destinations including Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Thanh Hoa, and Moc Chau will host artistic programs, festivals, and exhibitions to enhance the tourist experience during the holiday period.

Top booked locations by Vietnamese travelers, according to the Traveloka SEA Index for Q2 2026 and the National Day holiday, include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc. Travelers are increasingly seeking experiences beyond traditional sightseeing and resort stays, showing higher

interest in local culture, cuisine, art, festivals, museums, craft villages, and community activities.

Visitor Statistics and Site Upgrades in Hanoi and Ninh Binh

Hanoi received 18.01 million visitors in the first half of 2026, marking a 15.7% increase year-on-year. International arrivals to Hanoi surged 26.8%, with tourism revenue rising 19.1%. The city welcomed its five-millionth international visitor of the year on July 7. Meanwhile, Ninh Binh is upgrading tourism experiences at sites like Tam Coc-Bich Dong by introducing blooming water lilies, improving landscapes, increasing staff levels, enhancing sanitation, and installing additional directional signage. The province manages over 70 tourism sites and about 1,500 accommodation establishments offering approximately 23,000 rooms.

Government Measures to Ensure Safety and Quality

The

Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has instructed local tourism authorities to bolster visitor safety, security, and service standards during the National Day holiday. Coordination with police, health, and transport agencies is mandated to maintain public order, manage traffic safety, prevent fires, and address natural disaster responses. Visitor numbers at major destinations will be regulated to avoid overcrowding and congestion. Tourism service providers must ensure food safety, fire prevention, environmental protection, and transparent pricing, clearly displaying room rates, surcharges, promotions, refund, and cancellation policies.

National Tourism Growth and Holiday Event Highlights

The tourism sector in Vietnam recorded nearly 12.3 million international arrivals in the first six months of

2026, a 14.9% year-over-year increase. The country aims to receive 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic tourists in 2026, targeting tourism revenue of about 1.125 quadrillion VND (43 billion USD). Cultural events scheduled for the National Day holiday include the “Hoi An Memories” show in Da Nang from August 26 to September 2, the “Memory of Flowers” exhibition in Phu Quoc, the Sam Son Kite Festival from August 30 to September 1 in Thanh Hoa, and the Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week from August 27 to September 5.

Traveler Guidance and Industry Preparedness

Tourists are advised to select licensed travel companies and

purchase travel insurance to mitigate risks from unregulated tours promoted by individuals or influencers. Major destinations such as Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc have upgraded infrastructure and enhanced service quality in preparation for peak travel periods. Accommodation providers and tourism businesses are required to adhere to transparent pricing policies and clearly communicate service terms to visitors during the holiday.
