Vietnam’s tourism sector has implemented extensive new products and security preparations as the country approaches the National Day holiday period in late August and early September 2026. These measures aim to accommodate growing visitor demand while ensuring safety and service quality.

Top Booked Destinations and Cultural Events

The Traveloka SEA Index, released on August 11, 2026, ranked Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc as the five most booked Vietnamese destinations during the second quarter and the upcoming National Day holiday. Visitors are increasingly drawn to immersive cultural, culinary, artistic, and community-focused experiences rather than conventional resort stays.

Several cultural events

are scheduled across the country to coincide with the holiday. Da Nang hosts the “Hoi An Memories” show featuring its “Flag Hat” version from August 26 to September 2. Phu Quoc will present “The Memory of Flowers” exhibition, while Thanh Hoa’s Sam Son Kite Festival will run from August 30 to September 1. Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week is planned from August 27 to September 5, offering cultural and community activities.

Visitor Statistics and Tourism Revenue Growth

Hanoi registered 18.01 million visitors in the first half of 2026, reflecting a 15.7% year-on-year increase. International arrivals in the capital grew by 26.8%, with tourism revenue climbing

19.1% for the same period. On July 7, 2026, Hanoi welcomed its five-millionth international visitor.

Nationally, Vietnam recorded nearly 12.3 million international visitors in the first six months of the year, an increase of 14.9% compared to 2025. The country targets to receive 25 million international visitors, 150 million domestic tourists, and generate around 1.125 quadrillion VND (43 billion USD) in tourism revenue by the end of 2026.

Safety, Visitor Flow Management, and Regulatory Measures

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) has directed local tourism authorities to maintain safe conditions, public order, and high service standards through coordination with police, health, and transport agencies. Security, fire

prevention, and disaster response plans are emphasized at major tourist sites.

Visitor flows will be managed to avoid overcrowding and congestion. Tourism providers are required to enhance food safety, fire prevention, environmental protection, and overall service quality. Transparent pricing policies are enforced, mandating clear display of room rates, service charges, surcharges, promotion details, and refund or cancellation terms to ensure compliance.

In Ninh Binh province, preparations include improved landscapes and sanitation, increased staffing, and better signage at key sites like Tam Coc-Bich Dong. The province offers over 70 tourism attractions and about 1,500 accommodation establishments with approximately 23,000 rooms.

Traveler Advisories and Local Destination Upgrades

Tourists

are advised to book tours exclusively through licensed travel companies and obtain travel insurance. Self-organized tours promoted by individuals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), or key opinion consumers (KOCs) lacking regulatory compliance are discouraged.

Other major destinations including Hanoi, Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc have upgraded infrastructure, diversified their tourism offerings, and reinforced security and sanitation measures in preparation for the peak tourism period.
