Vietnam’s tourism industry is intensifying preparations for the 2026 National Day holiday by introducing new cultural and artistic events alongside measures to ensure visitor safety and service quality.

Planned Cultural and Community Events for National Day Holiday

Key events scheduled from August 26 to September 5 include the “Hoi An Memories” Flag Hat show in Da Nang running August 26 to September 2, the “Memory of Flowers” exhibition in Phu Quoc, and the Sam Son Kite Festival in Thanh Hoa from August 30 to September 1. Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2026 will take place from August 27 to September 5, featuring cultural, artistic, and community-focused activities. These

events cater to growing traveler interest in heritage, local culture, and community experiences, moving beyond traditional sightseeing or resort tourism.

Visitor Statistics and Tourism Growth in 2026

Hanoi recorded 18.01 million visitors in the first half of 2026, representing a 15.7% year-on-year increase. International arrivals in the capital grew 26.8% during this period, and tourism revenue rose by 19.1%. Hanoi welcomed its five-millionth international visitor on July 7, 2026. Nationally, Vietnam reported nearly 12.3 million international visitors in the first six months, up 14.9% compared to the previous year. For 2026, the country targets 25 million international visitors, 150 million domestic tourists, and approximately 1.125 quadrillion VND

(43 billion USD) in tourism revenue.

Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Directives

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) has mandated local governments to organize commemorative events for the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, including heritage and “return-to-the-roots” tours. VNAT has instructed tourism authorities across centrally managed cities and provinces to prioritize visitor safety, security, public order, traffic safety, and environmental protection during the holiday and year-end periods. Visitor flows at popular sites must be managed to avoid overcrowding. VNAT also requires transparent pricing and service standards; accommodation and tourism businesses are ordered to clearly display prices, surcharges, promotions, and refund policies,

and to provide services at the advertised rates and quality standards.

Traveler Guidance and Industry Preparations

Travelers are advised to use licensed travel companies and avoid self-organized tours promoted by non-authorized individuals or social media influencers. Travel insurance is recommended for safety precautions. Destinations like Ninh Binh, with over 70 tourism sites and 1,500 accommodation establishments totaling about 23,000 rooms, have enhanced service quality by increasing staff, improving environmental sanitation, adding directional signs, and refreshing visitor experiences. Other major destinations—including Hanoi, Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc—have upgraded infrastructure and tightened security and sanitation protocols to support the expected surge in traveler

numbers during the holiday season.

Tourism Trends and Year-End Growth Expectations

According to the Traveloka SEA Index, the most booked destinations in Vietnam for Q2 2026 and the National Day holiday are Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc. Visitor demand is shifting toward cultural, culinary, artistic, and community-based tourism experiences, leading destinations to refresh their tourism offerings and extend visitor stays. The solid growth recorded in the first half of 2026 supports projections for an accelerated tourism boost toward the end of the year, reinforced by government directives and enhanced local event programming.
