Vietnam received approximately 1.68 million international visitors in June 2026, contributing to a total of 12.3 million arrivals in the first half of the year. This represents a 14.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. The nation aims to achieve a full-year tourism revenue target of VND 1.125 quadrillion, equivalent to $43 billion, and attract a total of 25 million international tourists by the end of 2026.

Vietnam’s Strategic Focus for Second Half 2026

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, led by Director General Nguyen Trung Khanh, outlined that policy reform, international market development, and digital transformation will drive the tourism sector’s strategy in

the latter half of 2026. Efforts include strengthening the national framework to position tourism as a key economic sector. Additionally, plans call for enhanced cooperation among airlines, travel agencies, and accommodation providers to meet inbound travel demand.

As part of digital transformation, Vietnam aims to integrate tourism-related databases with the national population database, and upgrade tourism statistics reporting to meet international standards. These measures are intended to improve data accuracy and policy responsiveness.

Factors Driving Recent Tourism Growth

Recent increases in visitor numbers have been supported by more favorable visa policies designed to simplify entry requirements. Expanding promotion initiatives targeting key overseas markets have also

contributed to growth. The government’s focus on broadening source markets aligns with the broader goal of establishing tourism as a major contributor to the country’s economy in 2026.
