Vietnam received 1.68 million international visitors in June 2026, bringing total arrivals in the first half of the year to 12.3 million. This marks a 14.9% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has set a target of welcoming 25 million international tourists for the full year 2026, with tourism revenue expected to reach about $43 billion (approximately VND1.125 quadrillion).
Second-Half Strategic Priorities
According to Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the sector’s strategy for the second half of 2026 will emphasize policy reform, development of international markets, and digital
transformation. These initiatives aim to sustain momentum and expand Vietnam’s position as a premier destination within Asia.
Recent Growth Drivers
The rise in visitor numbers has been supported by more favorable visa policies implemented earlier in the year. In addition, intensified tourism promotion efforts and the expansion of key international source markets have contributed to the increased inbound travel seen in the first half of 2026.
Strengthening Tourism Infrastructure and Partnerships
Vietnam plans to reinforce its national framework for tourism development to elevate the sector as a key component of the country’s economy. The government is fostering stronger cooperation between airlines, travel agencies, and accommodation providers to better
meet incoming travel demand throughout 2026.
Digital transformation is another significant focus area. Vietnam will integrate tourism databases with the national population database and upgrade statistical systems to comply with international standards. These steps are intended to improve data accuracy and support more effective tourism management.
