The United States government has permanently established its visa bond program and increased the maximum bond amount to $20,000. This revised cap will be effective starting in 2026.

Nationals from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan are affected by this change. Visa applicants from these countries may be required to furnish higher financial guarantees when applying for U.S. visas beginning in August 2026.
