The United States government has permanently established its visa bond program and increased the bond cap to $20,000.
Countries Affected and Effective Date
The updated policy impacts travelers from dozens of countries, specifically including Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. These changes will be implemented starting in August 2026.
Under the new rules, travelers from the affected countries may be required to provide visa bonds valued up to $20,000 as a prerequisite to obtaining a US visa.
