Two firefighters died on July 21, 2026, while battling a building fire in Mérignac, a suburb of Bordeaux, near Bordeaux Airport in southwest France.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced the deaths during a session of the National Assembly on the same day. He confirmed the fire occurred close to Bordeaux Airport, where the deceased were engaged in firefighting efforts.
