Intense thunderstorms on June 30, 2026, led to widespread disruptions at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports, resulting in numerous flight cancellations and delays. The severe weather conditions grounded a significant number of flights at both major airports, affecting travelers attempting to depart or arrive today.

Flight Cancellations and Passenger Impact

More than 900 flights were either cancelled or held on the ground at Heathrow and Gatwick as a consequence of the adverse weather. This led to approximately 40,000 passengers being stranded or otherwise impacted by the disruption across the two airports. Travelers faced notable difficulties in their journeys due to these cancellations and the resulting

delays.
