Sri Lanka has implemented a new policy offering a free 30-day electronic travel authorization (ETA) for tourists arriving from 35 eligible countries during 2026. This measure removes the visa fee for these visitors, simplifying entry procedures.

Designed to aid the recovery of the country’s tourism industry, the visa fee waiver seeks to encourage higher numbers of international travelers. Sri Lanka’s tourism authorities aim to restore the nation’s appeal as a key global travel destination through this initiative.

Travelers from the qualifying countries will now have easier access to Sri Lanka with a visa-free tourist ETA option valid for 30 days.

This adjustment is expected to reduce administrative hurdles and make travel planning more straightforward for those visitors.
