The Sri Lankan government has introduced a complimentary Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) valid for 30 days, targeting travelers from 40 nations. This new policy aims to simplify entry procedures for visitors and contribute to the country’s tourism sector recovery.

Eligible Countries and Tourism Recovery Objectives

This initiative covers travelers from a diverse group of countries, including India, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia. By offering a free 30-day ETA, Sri Lanka seeks to encourage increased tourist arrivals and support the revitalization of its tourism industry.

Eligible tourists from these countries can apply for the electronic authorization, which is expected

to ease travel formalities and promote visitor interest. The announcement was made public in late May 2026 as part of broader efforts to facilitate international tourism.
