The month of July alone saw 11.5 million foreign arrivals, maintaining the 4.6 percent year-on-year increase in monthly arrivals.
Top Regional Destinations in July 2026
The Balearic Islands received 22.3 percent of all international visitors to Spain in July 2026, making them the leading regional destination. Catalonia followed closely with 20.6 percent of arrivals, while Andalusia accounted for 14.6 percent. The average length of stay recorded was seven nights. Meanwhile,
day-tripper visits decreased by 3.6 percent during the same month. July also saw nearly 3.1 million tourists travelling as part of package tours.
Leading Source Markets
British travellers made up the largest segment of arrivals during the first seven months of 2026, with 11.5 million visiting Spain. France was the second-largest source market, contributing nearly 7.2 million tourists, followed by Germany with about 6.9 million visitors.
Tourism Context and Projections
In 2025, Spain hosted a record 96.8 million international tourists, confirming a trend of sustained growth in its tourism sector. Data shows a consistent pattern of increasing visitor numbers into 2026. A Deloitte and Google joint study
projects that Spain could become the world’s most visited country by 2040, with inbound arrivals reaching 110 million. Currently, France holds the top position with 102 million visitors recorded in 2025, and it is projected to draw 105 million visitors by 2040.
The arrival statistics are based on Frontur, a monthly tourism survey conducted by Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE). According to the companies behind the Deloitte and Google analysis, this research aims to “help travel operators and distributors anticipate and adapt to future trends.” The data underscores Spain’s continued appeal as a top-tier global travel destination and highlights key
