Southwest Airlines will begin three new nonstop flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Nassau, Bahamas; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Liberia, Costa Rica starting June 3, 2027. These flights will operate twice weekly on Saturdays and Sundays through August 2, 2027, offering exclusive nonstop service from Austin to these destinations.

In addition to the new Caribbean and Central American routes, Austin will see a total of seven new or returning routes for summer 2027. Domestic flights to Savannah, Georgia; Bozeman, Montana; and Sarasota, Florida will be introduced, alongside the return of daily seasonal service to Portland, Oregon. Southwest previously announced

its Saturday-only nonstop flights from Austin to San José, Costa Rica, launching March 13, 2027. The airline will also resume service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Official Statements on New Routes

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport CEO Ghizlane Badawi emphasized the impact of the new air service, stating, “Southwest Airlines has been a longstanding and important partner in the growth of air service at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.” Badawi added that the new international routes “strengthen our region’s connectivity and provide more options for both business and leisure travelers.” Southwest’s vice president of network planning, Daniel Jones, expressed excitement about expanding service at Austin,

where the airline has operated as the hometown carrier for nearly 50 years.

Traveler Impact and Flight Schedule

The twice-weekly weekend nonstop flights from Austin to Nassau, Punta Cana, and Liberia cater to weekend-to-weekend vacation travelers, limiting midweek departure flexibility. Tickets for these seasonal flights are available now, allowing early planning for summer 2027 travel. Southwest expects approximately 143 departures per day on peak summer days at Austin, marking its largest schedule at the airport to date.
