Southwest Airlines is introducing three new nonstop flights departing from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) starting June 5, 2027. These additional routes will operate on Saturdays only, according to airport officials.
New nonstop destinations and overall route expansion
The new nonstop flights from Pittsburgh will connect to Panama City, Florida; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Savannah, Georgia. With these additions, Southwest will operate 25 nonstop routes from PIT—the highest number of any carrier at the airport.
Increased frequency on select routes
Starting in summer 2027, Southwest will increase flight frequency on several existing routes from Pittsburgh. The Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida flight will expand from Saturdays only to daily service. Flights to Cancun,
Mexico will rise to approximately two per week. Daily flights to Tampa, Florida, will increase to four per day, while Las Vegas, Nevada, services will double to two flights daily.
Southwest Airlines currently accounts for 26% of passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport, surpassing American Airlines, which carries 23% of travelers at the airport. Southwest’s expanding route network and increased flight frequencies reinforce its leading position at PIT.
The expanded nonstop service options will be available to travelers starting summer 2027, with no changes affecting the 2026 holiday travel period. PIT officials confirmed the enhanced southwest flight schedules will launch
in summer 2027.
