Southwest Airlines will introduce new direct flights from Pittsburgh International Airport on June 5, 2027. These new services will operate on Saturdays only, increasing Southwest’s reach from the airport.
New Saturday Direct Flights to Florida, Dominican Republic, and Georgia
The airline will add Saturday-only nonstop flights from Pittsburgh to Panama City, Florida; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Savannah, Georgia. This expansion will raise Southwest’s total nonstop routes from Pittsburgh International Airport to 25, the highest number operated by any airline at PIT.
Market Share and Existing Route Expansion
Southwest Airlines currently holds 26% of passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport, surpassing American Airlines, which carries 23% of travelers. In addition to the new routes, Southwest will
increase flight frequencies on four existing destinations from Pittsburgh.
The frequency for flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida will rise from Saturdays only to daily service starting summer 2027. Flights to Cancun, Mexico will increase to approximately two per week. Daily flights to Tampa, Florida will grow to four, and Las Vegas, Nevada flights will double to two daily flights.
Pittsburgh International Airport officials announced these expansions in a press release, confirming Southwest’s dominant position as the airline with the largest share of passengers at PIT and the widest nonstop network.
