Railway lines between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton were blocked by an emergency incident at approximately 07:35 BST on Friday, 31 July 2026, prompting a response from emergency services.
Train operations between these stations were disrupted, resulting in cancellations and delays of up to 90 minutes. West Midlands Railway services running between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street were affected, along with Transport for Wales services operating routes between Llandudno Junction, Crewe, and Birmingham International. Rail replacement buses were introduced on parts of the route to manage passenger transfers.
By 13:00 BST on the same day, National Rail confirmed that all affected lines
between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton had reopened. Following the reopening, train services resumed normal operations across the disrupted routes.
