Royal Caribbean has extended the suspension of ship calls to Labadee, Haiti through June 2027, prioritizing the safety and well-being of guests and crew amid ongoing safety concerns. A company spokesperson said, “As we continue to evaluate conditions in Haiti and our ability to deliver the best vacations responsibly, we have decided to extend the suspension of ship calls to Labadee through June 2027.”
Labadee is Royal Caribbean’s private beach destination located roughly six miles northwest of Cap-Haïtien on Haiti’s northern coast. It features white-sand beaches and attractions such as the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line zipline, providing an exclusive resort
experience separate from the general country context.
Haiti faces widespread gang violence and political instability contributing to travel safety concerns. The US State Department has issued a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for the country, influencing Royal Caribbean’s decision to maintain the suspension.
Cruise passengers affected by the suspension will not visit Labadee through June 2027. Their itineraries have Labadee stops replaced with other Caribbean ports, including Grand Cayman, Grand Turk, Cozumel, and Nassau.
The company remains committed to its Labadee team members by placing them in other positions across fleets and destinations during the suspension. Royal Caribbean also
continues humanitarian efforts in the Labadee region, including monthly food donations.
A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson added, “This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members in mind. We have communicated these changes directly with guests. We remain committed to our Labadee team members and are working to ensure they feel informed and supported. We have identified positions across our fleets and destinations to place team members during this pause.”
