Royal Caribbean has opened bookings for its 2028 Alaska cruise season, featuring four ships: Anthem of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas, and Serenade of the Seas. These vessels will operate voyages primarily from Seattle and Vancouver, with a combination of roundtrip and one-way itineraries.
Ovation of the Seas Returns as Upgraded Quantum Class Ship
Ovation of the Seas will return to Alaska in 2028, replacing Quantum of the Seas, which sailed the region in 2027. Based in Seattle, Ovation offers 7-night roundtrip cruises and has undergone a major amplification in 2026, resulting in enhanced features and upgrades compared to Quantum of the Seas.
Itineraries and Sailing Options for 2028
Anthem of
the Seas will operate 7-night cruises between Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seward, Alaska, including unique one-way voyages in both directions. This enables travelers to combine cruises with Royal Caribbean’s land-based Cruisetours. Voyager of the Seas will offer 7-night roundtrip cruises originating from Seattle. It is smaller and older than Anthem and Ovation but retains amenities like the Royal Promenade, water slides, and an ice skating rink. Serenade of the Seas returns to Alaska in 2028, replacing Radiance of the Seas from 2027. Sailing 7-night roundtrips from Vancouver, Serenade provides a contrasting experience as a ship roughly half the size of
Royal Caribbean’s newest megaships.
Cruisetour Offerings and Land Destinations
Royal Caribbean will continue to offer Cruisetour vacations aboard Anthem of the Seas in 2028. These combined cruise-and-land itineraries last between 9 and 13 nights with prices ranging from $2,330 to over $5,700 per person. The land segments include stops in Anchorage, Denali, Talkeetna, Fairbanks, Alyeska (Girdwood), and Seward. These packages give guests structured access to Alaska without separate planning for cruise and land arrangements.
Booking Timing and Future Itinerary Releases
Booking for 2028 Alaska cruises is recommended early due to the short season running from April through September and high demand, especially during July and August peak times. Deposits can be
made now with flexible payment and cancellation options. Royal Caribbean plans two further 2028 itinerary releases: European sailings in the week of October 12, 2026, and 7-night summer Caribbean voyages in the week of November 2, 2026.
