Princess Cruises will operate a 129-night round-trip world cruise named Grand World Odyssey in 2029 aboard the Grand Princess. The voyage will depart from multiple Australian cities—Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne—and from Dover in the United Kingdom.
Itinerary Covers 61 Destinations Across Five Continents
The Grand World Odyssey will travel approximately 37,300 nautical miles, calling at 61 ports in 31 countries across five continents. Highlights include two full traverses of the Panama Canal’s newer locks, scenic cruising near Easter Island and Pitcairn Island, and stops in major cities such as New York, Miami, Reykjavik, Lisbon, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Tahiti, and Auckland. The itinerary incorporates eight late-night stays and one
overnight port call, with extended visits scheduled for Lima (Callao), Lisbon, and New York. The ship will cross both the Equator and the International Date Line twice during the journey.
Broader 2028–29 Regional Program Involves Multiple Ships and Ports
The Grand World Odyssey is part of Princess Cruises’ wider 2028–29 regional program that includes the Grand Princess, Emerald Princess, and Royal Princess. This program offers more than 90 departures and over 70 itineraries ranging from two to 46 nights. Departure ports include Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth (Fremantle), and Sydney. The regional offerings encompass trans-Tasman sailings, the Kimberley Coast, destinations across Queensland, Tasmania, southern Australia, and 17 voyages circumnavigating
Australia. The Emerald Princess will return to Australia for the first time since the 2016–17 season, while the program restores Melbourne homeport operations and expands New Zealand itineraries.
Bookings Open November 2026 With Introductory Incentives
Princess Cruises will commence bookings for both the Grand World Odyssey and the 2028–29 regional season on 10 November 2026. Passengers who book before 16 February 2027 will have access to introductory benefits such as onboard credits and reduced deposits, subject to specific terms and eligibility by voyage and passenger status.
Official Statement and Context on Long Voyages and Fuel Volatility
Jim Berra, Princess Cruises’ chief commercial officer, said the schedule offers customers “more ways to discover remarkable destinations, immerse themselves in
different cultures and see the world in new ways.” The 129-night Grand World Odyssey’s Australian round-trip format is a distinctive feature of the voyage. Extended shore calls and late-night port stays are designed to allow more time in destinations and to assist in fuel efficiency. Fuel price instability, exacerbated by geopolitical issues such as the Iran War, remains a risk for lengthy cruises, illustrated by the unrelated cancellation of the Villa Vie Odyssey cruise due to unsustainable fuel costs.
