Porter Airlines canceled a flight from Victoria International Airport, British Columbia, to Toronto on Thursday, August 6, 2026, after a young child passenger refused to remain seated and buckle the seatbelt. The airline said both crew and the parent tried multiple times to secure the child in the seat without success.
As a safety precaution, the plane returned to the terminal at Victoria International Airport to remove the parent and child along with their baggage. This process delayed the Toronto-bound flight beyond Victoria Airport’s scheduled runway closure at 12:30 a.m. Remaining passengers were required to disembark.
Porter Airlines apologized to
passengers affected by the cancellation and subsequently rebooked them on a flight the following day. The airline is based in Toronto and the disrupted route was Victoria to Toronto within Canada, according to AP News.
