Attempts by the accompanying parent and crew to have the child secure the seatbelt were unsuccessful, according to Porter Airlines, which stated, “attempts by the accompanying parent and crew to address this were unsuccessful.” The crew decided to return the aircraft to the terminal and disembark the child and their parent due to the unsafe condition.
The disruption delayed the flight for about
an hour, with the child and parent disembarking around 11:30 pm. This delay prevented departure before the runway closed after midnight. All passengers had to disembark, and the airline rebooked them on a flight the following day, causing travel disruptions for 150 people onboard.
