The Port of San Diego has implemented a new vessel tracking system known as PortControl, providing real-time updates on the movements of cruise and cargo ships. Introduced in late May 2026, this technology enables maritime activities at the port to be monitored with greater accuracy and immediacy.

PortControl aims to enhance transparency by making live vessel location data available, which supports smoother management of both cruise tourism and cargo operations. This advancement is positioned to aid the port’s maritime sector as it continues to develop and expand in the future.
