Papua New Guinea was awarded Best Booth in the National Tourism Organisation category at the 2026 Travel Madness Expo held from July 10 to 12 in Manila, Philippines. The event featured over 170 participants, including national tourism organizations, airlines, hotels, resorts, and travel agencies from the Philippines and other Asian countries.
Papua New Guinea’s Exhibition Team and Showcase
The Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA) and Air Niugini led the country’s presence at the expo. They were supported by several tourism operators and hospitality partners such as Kokopo Beach Bungalow, Karanas Tours, Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, Alibi Bar & Grill, Akura, Daikoku Japanese Restaurant, Cuppa Cafe, Asia
Aromas, and PNG Coffee. The PNG booth featured displays promoting diving sites, birdwatching locations, trekking adventures, cultural festivals, island retreats, traditional artifacts, and coffee, reflecting the nation’s cultural diversity and natural attractions.
Significance of the Award and Official Statements
The award for Best Booth recognized Papua New Guinea’s colorful and authentic presentation amid one of Asia’s largest consumer travel events. Alan Milne, Chief Executive Officer of Air Niugini, described the accolade as a remarkable achievement showcasing the results of collaboration between the national airline, PNGTPA, and tourism operators. Milne said, “This recognition is a wonderful achievement for Papua New Guinea. It demonstrates what can be accomplished when
the national airline, PNGTPA and our tourism operators work together to showcase our country as a vibrant, welcoming and authentic destination.” Joshua Koh, Air Niugini’s Regional Manager Asia, coordinated airline participation and called the award unexpected. He said, “Winning the Best Booth Award was something we never expected, making this recognition even more special.” Koh credited the success to the combined efforts of PNGTPA, tourism operators, hotel partners, and Air Niugini.
Role of Travel Exhibitions and Upcoming PNG Promotions
The Travel Madness Expo serves as a key occasion for tourism bodies to promote destinations, launch travel packages, and build business partnerships across Asia. Papua New Guinea plans to
extend its promotional activities at the NATAS Travel Fair in Singapore from August 21 to 23, 2026, and at the Holiday and Travel Expo in Hong Kong from September 25 to 27, 2026. Industry experts recognize that participation in international travel exhibitions remains fundamental for expanding market visibility and forging new travel partnerships in the region.
