MSC Cruises’ ship MSC Poesia was detained by the US Coast Guard at PortMiami in early November 2026, resulting in the cancellation of its scheduled 11-night Caribbean cruise.
The Coast Guard conducted an expanded inspection involving an examination of the ship’s systems, which led to the vessel’s detention with passengers on board. Following this, MSC Poesia’s sailing planned to depart from Miami was cancelled.
Passenger Impact and Cruise Adjustments
The 11-night Caribbean itinerary included ports of call in Jamaica, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Belize. Hundreds of passengers booked on the sailing faced the cancellation. MSC Cruises announced it would issue full refunds and
cruise credits to affected guests.
The vessel remained at PortMiami under Coast Guard control until cleared for departure. MSC Cruises stated it was unable to resolve the regulatory matter before the planned departure, causing the cancellation decision.
