Morocco received 14.1 million tourist arrivals by the end of August 2026, representing a 4.5% increase year-on-year with 608,000 additional visitors, according to the Morocco Ministry of Tourism.
August 2026 marked a new monthly record for Moroccan tourism, surpassing 2 million arrivals for the first time in that month. This reflected a 3% increase compared to August 2025, driven by the summer season and sustained levels of tourist activity.
Government Tourism Strategy and Outlook
Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor attributed the growth to the ongoing 2023-2026 roadmap, stating that “investing in a well-targetted manner in key levers yields results in terms of both the flow
and socio-economic impact.” She expressed optimism that the next phase of the plan will extend benefits to more regions and stakeholders within the tourism sector.
The ministry highlighted that the milestone signals the effectiveness of its investment strategy under the 2023-2026 framework in generating higher tourist inflows and contributing to socio-economic gains.
