On July 26, 2026, London Gatwick Airport experienced a water supply disruption affecting both passenger terminals. The outage originated from the nearby Horley area, impacting essential airport services throughout the morning.
Passenger amenities at Gatwick were significantly affected, with no running water available for flushing toilets, handwashing, filling water bottles, or access to hot drinks. Consequently, airport restaurants were forced to close. To mitigate these service interruptions, bottled water has been distributed to passengers and staff as an emergency measure.
Regional water supplier SES Water identified a power outage at a water treatment facility in Horley as the cause of
the reduced water pressure and supply issue at Gatwick Airport. SES Water is collaborating closely with the airport to restore normal service as soon as possible.
Despite the water supply problems, Gatwick Airport confirmed that flight operations remained unaffected. As Britain’s second busiest airport and a primary base for budget carriers including EasyJet, maintaining flight schedules was a priority during the disruption.
