IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a Master Development Agreement with Australian property developer ALAND to develop at least 15 Staybridge Suites hotels in Australia. ALAND holds exclusive development rights for Staybridge Suites under this agreement.
The portfolio will include at least 2,000 rooms nationwide. Franchise agreements have been signed for the first two Staybridge Suites: Sydney Parramatta with 130 rooms and Sydney Leppington with 112 rooms.
Both hotels will be managed by Signature Hotel Management Group. Parramatta and Leppington were selected for their strong commercial, residential, and infrastructure development, and proximity to Western Sydney International Airport and the Western
Sydney Aerotropolis.
Matt Tripolone, Managing Director, Australasia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “This is a significant long-term development agreement for IHG in Australia. Establishing a portfolio of at least 15 hotels and 2,000 rooms with one development partner gives us a clear pathway to build a meaningful position in the extended-stay segment, where we see considerable long-term opportunity.” He added, “ALAND has substantial development capability and ambition, and we share a clear vision for the opportunity ahead. Bringing that alignment together with IHG’s brands, distribution and enterprise gives us a strong foundation to grow the partnership over
the long term.”
Andrew Hrsto, Founder and CEO of ALAND, described the agreement as “an exciting evolution of our partnership with IHG and creates an opportunity to establish a significant new accommodation platform across Australia.” He said, “We look forward to bringing the first hotels to Parramatta and Leppington and growing the portfolio nationally.”
Staybridge Suites is designed primarily for extended stays, combining residential-style suites with hotel services and communal facilities. As of June 2026, the brand had 355 hotels globally open with 152 in development.
This agreement builds on ALAND’s existing partnership with IHG, which recently opened voco Gosford,
a 130-room hotel in the Archibald precinct of New South Wales. The Australian market shows strong long-term potential in extended-stay accommodation due to corporate travellers, project-based assignments, relocations, and guests seeking more space and flexibility.
