InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Australian developer ALAND signed a Master Development Agreement on 9 September 2026 to launch the Staybridge Suites hotel brand in Australia.
The agreement grants ALAND exclusive development rights for Staybridge Suites hotels across Australia, committing to develop a portfolio of at least 15 hotels containing a minimum of 2,000 rooms nationwide.
As part of this deal, two franchise agreements were signed for Staybridge Suites Sydney Parramatta and Staybridge Suites Sydney Leppington, featuring 130 and 112 rooms respectively. Both hotels will be managed by Signature Hotel Management Group.
These initial hotels are situated in Greater Western
Sydney, specifically Parramatta and Leppington. Parramatta serves as a major commercial hub, while Leppington benefits from proximity to Western Sydney International Airport and the planned Aerotropolis, key drivers for the extended-stay demand in these corridors.
Matt Tripolone, Managing Director for Australasia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the agreement provides a clear long-term development pathway in Australia’s extended-stay sector. He highlighted ALAND’s development expertise and shared vision as critical for expanding IHG’s portfolio. Andrew Hrsto, Founder and CEO of ALAND, called the deal an evolution of their partnership and an opportunity to establish a significant new accommodation platform
nationally.
Staybridge Suites is IHG’s upscale extended-stay brand designed for guests requiring stays of days, weeks, or longer. As of 26 June 2026, the brand operated 355 hotels globally with 152 more in development.
ALAND is an Australian property developer with a 100% project delivery success rate and currently holds a development pipeline exceeding 6,500 apartments. The company has an established reputation based on its Gold Star iCIRT rating and previous collaborations with IHG, including the recently opened voco Gosford hotel.
IHG operates over one million rooms worldwide through more than 7,000 hotels under 21 brands. The extended-stay segment in
Australia is growing due to demand from corporate travellers, relocations, and project-related stays, creating an opportunity for Staybridge Suites’ residential-style accommodation combined with hotel services.
