Icelandair will launch nonstop flights between St. Louis Lambert International Airport and Reykjavik starting May 14, 2027. The airline will operate four weekly nonstop flights from Reykjavik to St. Louis through October 24, 2027, making St. Louis its 16th U.S. destination.
Historical and Existing International Services
This route restores nonstop service between St. Louis and Iceland, previously operated by WOW Air until 2019. Lambert International Airport currently offers daily direct flights to London via British Airways and five weekly flights to Germany via Lufthansa.
Officials Highlight Regional Impact
Icelandair Chief Commercial Officer Tómas Ingason stated, “St. Louis has long been known as the gateway to the West. Starting next
May, it also becomes the gateway to Iceland and onward to Europe.” Brad Dean, CEO of Explore St. Louis, noted, “What we’ve seen in 2026 is when you add additional capacity to Lambert International Airport residents and businesses here take advantage of it, and visitors globally are truly ready to take advantage of it.” Mayor Cara Spencer said, “We’re opening a door that allows more people to discover our city and gives St. Louisans, of course, another opportunity to discover the world.”
Tourism and Traveler Benefits
Hotel bookings in St. Louis and St. Louis County have increased 12% in the past year, partly due
to added international flights at Lambert. The new Icelandair service, together with flights by British Airways and Lufthansa, strengthens Lambert International Airport’s international network.
Traveler Connectivity
The nonstop flights from Reykjavik provide St. Louis travelers with direct access to Iceland and onward connections to Europe starting May 14, 2027. This enhances regional connectivity and supports the city’s status as a leisure and convention destination.
