Hyatt Hotels Corporation officially opened Hyatt Centric Sapporo on October 3, 2026, introducing the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Hokkaido, Japan. The hotel is situated in downtown Sapporo, the capital city of Hokkaido, serving as a modern base for exploration.
Location and Accessibility
Hyatt Centric Sapporo occupies the top floors of a mixed-use tower adjacent to the historic Akarenga-chosha (Red Brick Building) and near Odori Park. Odori subway station is reachable within minutes through an underground walkway, while JR Sapporo Station is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Hotel Features and Design
The property features 216 guestrooms and suites, each measuring at least 36 square meters
(388 square feet). The hotel’s design is inspired by Takeshiro Matsuura, the explorer and cartographer who named Hokkaido, and includes artisan-crafted touches such as a large wooden check-in counter and straw artworks. This design reflects a warm and contemporary interpretation of Hokkaido’s cultural heritage.
Dining Options
Matsu Grill & Bar is located on the 17th floor, offering an open kitchen with wood-fired grilled cuisine inspired by Mediterranean styles and panoramic city views. On the ground floor near the former Hokkaido Government Office, Mr. Fish by Hyatt Centric Sapporo specializes in fish and chips made with seasonal white fish from Hokkaido waters, locally
grown potatoes, craft beer, and also provides takeout options including fish burgers and churros.
Guest Experience and Booking Incentives
Hyatt Centric Sapporo offers Local Insiders to share seasonal insider recommendations and maps to explore Sapporo’s cultural and natural attractions. Guests who book directly with Hyatt by October 31, 2026 for stays from October 3 to December 31, 2026 are eligible for a special New Hotel Member Bonus Offer.
