A cruise ship that experienced a hantavirus outbreak has docked at the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands. In response to the health situation, local authorities initiated a series of containment and safety measures in May 2026.

Following the ship’s arrival, health officials commenced comprehensive disinfection efforts to address the risk posed by the outbreak. Alongside these measures, quarantine protocols were enforced for certain passengers who had possible exposure to the virus. Local officials also increased health monitoring procedures to manage and contain the situation.

Travelers disembarking from the affected vessel underwent health screenings, and some were required to remain in quarantine

as a precautionary step. The measures align with established protocols for infectious disease control aboard cruise ships to prevent further transmission.
