Goa received 70,349 visitors from the United Kingdom in 2025-26, a 49% increase from 47,212 the previous year, making the UK the largest overseas market. Russia followed with 43,396 arrivals, up from 30,103. The United States contributed 24,878 tourists, while Germany and France accounted for 11,958 and 6,635 visitors respectively. Among domestic sources, Maharashtra led with 1.59 million tourists, up 47% from 1.08 million. Karnataka was the second-largest domestic market, growing to 860,000 from 650,000 arrivals. Delhi and Goa itself ranked among the top five domestic contributors, with Goa also ranking fifth among domestic source markets for its own hospitality
sector.
Tourism Data Compliance and Its Impact
The Goa Tourism Department’s TIME (Tourist Information Management Enterprise) software recorded that only 60% of the state’s 7,098 registered hotels and guesthouses submitted tourist arrival data in 2025-26, a rise from 45% in 2024-25 but still below the desired compliance threshold. This limited data participation raises concerns about the accuracy of visitor statistics, with some hoteliers questioning whether reported growth reflects actual increases in tourist footfall or improvements in data reporting, particularly from budget hotels and homestays.
Contract Extension and Conditions for Data Submission
Goa Electronics Ltd’s contract for managing the TIME application was extended until December 28, under conditions set by tourism director Kedar Naik.
The extension includes a stipulation that a 10% hike in processing fees for hotels using the TIME portal will be considered only if data submissions reach 70% compliance among registered hotels and guesthouses. Official efforts to boost adherence include periodic reminders to hotels, aiming to enhance the reliability and real-time availability of tourism data critical for monitoring Goa’s visitor trends.
