Two firefighters were killed on July 22, 2026, while fighting a building fire in Mérignac, a suburb close to Bordeaux Airport in southwest France. The incident near the airport resulted in the deaths as emergency crews combated the blaze.

Bordeaux Airport reported flight delays on the same day due to the fire nearby. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez informed lawmakers in the National Assembly about the fatalities. The airport issued a statement on its website confirming that some flights experienced delays caused by the emergency response to the fire.
