On June 15, 2026, the Federal Aviation Administration implemented ground stops affecting seven of American Airlines’ major hubs across the United States. These stops have interrupted normal flight operations, resulting in extensive delays and cancellations throughout the day at key airports serving the carrier.
As a consequence of the FAA’s actions, American Airlines recorded the highest number of flight cancellations globally on that date. The ground stops have had a significant impact, causing disruption to flight schedules at these critical U.S. hubs and affecting a substantial portion of the airline’s daily operations.
